先日、足の指の骨折で病院に行ってきました。
医者の先生は「これで完治」と言ってくれました。
ようやくこれでまた運動を再開できます。
先週は友人から依頼を受けてパネルディスカッションにパネラーとして参加してきました。
私も含めて３社の参加でした。
参加者は２００名近くいたようです。
その中には南日本のメンバーも１０人ほどいました。
また、今回は私の息子二人も参加しました。
２回ほど事前打ち合わせをしたり、受付１時間前に集合してリハーサルも行いました。
結構本格的で驚きました。
そして、パネルディスカッションが始まりました。
他の発表の方の話を聞いていると非常に勉強になりました。
特に採用の話ではすごくメモを書きたいくらいでしたが、
社員が何人か参加していたのでメモをとってくれていたでしょう。
今回のパネルディスカッションで素晴らしいと思ったのは
話をしている途中でも他のパネラーからもツッコミが入ったり、質問があったり、
またネット上で質問ができるので質問の数も多く、
その中でも率直な質問、考えさせられる質問がたくさんあり、
非常に良いパネルディスカッションの仕組みだと思いました。
質問の中には自分が経験したことのない質問があり
しかし、うちの会長が創業時にどういった感じで創業したのだろう
そして人脈もお金もない中で、どうここまで会社を大きくしてきたのだろうと
短い時間でしたが改めて考える良い機会を頂きました。
元々、このパネルディスカッションの議題は『つぶれる会社、伸びる会社』でしたが、
とくに潰れる会社のコメントを求められた時
私はたまたま、今『失敗の本質』を読んでいまして、
・成果に結びつかない努力をしている。
・最前線が抱える問題の深刻さを中央本部が正しく認識できず、
「上から」の権威を振り回し最善策を検討しない。
・順調なときには強く全面展開しつつも、環境の転換期には一転して閉塞感に陥り、突破口を見出せない。
・自分たちでルールをつくり出すことができず、既存のルールに習熟することばかりを目指す。
など太平洋戦争時の日本の硬直した組織が描かれています。
今でも参考になることが非常に多く、
あまり日本が変わっていないことも現在の位置として知ることができます。
我が社にも非常に言えることだと思います。
非常に戒めになっております。と話をさせてもらいました。
今回のパネルディスカッションに参加させてもらって
一緒に学べる、お互いが考えさせられる良い機会だと思いました。
スタイルも変化しつつ、進化しているのだなと思いました。

Blog No. 355th “The Second Workshop”
Hello everyone, this is the 355th episode of my blog.
The other day, I went to the hospital to see my toe. The doctor told me that it had healed completely.
Finally, I will be able to do exercise again.
Last week, since my friend asked me to join the session as a panelist, I took part in it.
Three panelists took part in it.
The number of participants seemed to be close to 200 people.
The MTLS members were about 10 people.
This time, my two sons also joined the session as participants.
We had a couple of pre-meetings in advance.
We also gathered one hour before the reception at the venue and had a rehearsal.
I was surprised at how authentic it was.
So, we started the panel discussion.
When I listened to the other panelists, I learned excellent stories.
I wanted even to write down notes about their stories, so I could learn many things.
Probably, my team members wrote them down.
I thought that this panel discussion was excellently structured because it allowed me to see how the participants were talking and how they were asking questions to each other during the discussions.
Since they could ask us their questions online, there were many frank questions.
Since there were also many serious questions, I thought this panel discussion was a great event.
Some of their questions made me consider them seriously. There were questions that I hadn’t experienced before.
I tried to remember the time when my father founded his company.
When my father founded it, since he came to Tokyo from Kagoshima, he didn’t have money and connections.
I wondered how he managed to grow his company.
It was a good opportunity for me.
Originally, this session’s agenda was ” Companies that collapse and Companies that grow”.
Especially, when I was asked the question about companies that collapse, I happened to be reading a book titled ” The Essence of Failure”.
The book’s content I found especially useful was about the following things.
・The Japanese army was making efforts that did not lead to the final result they wanted to achieve.
・The Central headquarters of the Japanese army couldn’t correctly recognize the seriousness of problems facing the military on the front lines and wielded authority “from the top”, and didn’t consider the best measures.
・When things were going well, they were strongly fully deployed, but in times of environmental transformation, suddenly, they felt trapped and unable to find a way out.
・They couldn’t create a rule by themselves and only aimed to master the existing rules.
And so on. It was described as “Japan’s rigid organization during the Pacific War”.
Even now we can find very many references to this, and we can learn that Japan hasn’t changed much compared to its current position.
I think this is very true for our company as well.
I told them it had been a great warning for our company.
My impression from taking part in this session was that it was a great opportunity to learn something together.
I thought the style also has been changing and making progress.
This week was a week of these thoughts.
