みなさんこんにちは
ブログ第４１０弾です。
先週、実は私の誕生日がありました。
５１歳になりました。
妻や子供たちも祝ってくれました。
有難いことに、娘と下の息子は直接、おめでとうと言ってくれて
上の息子は旅行中でしたのでLINEでおめでとうと言ってくれました。
三人からのプレゼントはタオルをくれました。
最近、私がよくジムに行くことが理由だったようです。
小さいときは可愛らしいプレゼントが多かったですが、最近はオシャレTシャツをくれます。
選ぶものが変わってきたなぁと思いました。
しかし、一番うれしいのは三人の仲が良いことだと思います。
さて、先週は珍しく映画を見に行ってきました。
皆さんもご存じの「国宝」という映画です。
妻と下の息子と三人で見に行きました。
実は下の息子の学校の同級生が映画に出ているということも、見に行くきっかけとなりました。
私自身は世襲という事も大きなテーマと聞いていたので、非常に楽しみにして行きました。
歌舞伎の世界はこんなに厳しく、名前を引き継ぐことがこれほど大変な争いなのかと驚きました。
隣の息子はどんな反応をしているのか気になりました。
芸が勝つのか、血筋が勝つのか、私も後継ぎがいる身としては非常に勉強になりました。
判断が変わってくると、これほど人生が変わってくるのかと思いました。
終わった後は、近くのレストランで夕食を食べて帰りました。
最近、あまりこのように映画を見に行くこともなかったので良かったです。
本当はジュラシック・ワールドを見に行きたかったのですが、国宝を見る事が出来て良かったです。
先週はそんな週でした。

Blog No. 410: “Movies”
Hello everyone, this is the 410th episode of my blog.
Last week was actually my birthday.
I turned 51.
My wife and children celebrated with me.
Thankfully, my daughter and younger son congratulated me in person,
while my older son, who was traveling, sent me a message on LINE.
All three of them gave me towels as gifts.
Apparently, the reason was that I’ve been going to the gym a lot lately.
When they were younger, they used to give me cute gifts,
but recently they’ve been giving me stylish T-shirts.
I thought, “The things they choose haven really changed.”
Still, what makes me happiest is that the three of them get along so well.
Speaking of which, last week I went to see a movie, which is rare for me.
It was National Treasure, which I’m sure you’ve all heard of.
I went with my wife and younger son.
Actually, one of my younger son’s classmate was in the movie,
so that was another reason we went to see it.
I had heard that hereditary succession was a major theme,
so I was very excited to see it.
I was surprised to learn how strict the world of Kabuki is,
and how fiercely competitive inheriting a name can be.
I wondered what my younger son thought as he watched.
Does art prevail, or does bloodline prevail?
As someone with an heir, it was a very enlightening experience for me.
I realized just how much life can change depending on the decision made.
After the movie, we had dinner at a nearby restaurant and went home.
It’s been a long time since I’ve gone to see a movie like this, so it felt nice.
I had actually wanted to see Jurassic World,
but in the end, I’m glad I saw National Treasure instead.
This week was a week of these thoughts.
