皆さん、こんにちは
ブログ第３８８弾です。
先日、夜寝ていて、ふと起きたら生まれて初めて英語で会話をしている夢を見た事を感じました。
特にこのタイミングで英語がうまくなったと実感はしていませんが、
ようやく見られるようになったかと思いました。
会話の内容はあまりポジティブな話ではなかったです。
何でもそうだと思いますが、やはり急な変化は無いと思って地道にやることが大事ですね。
さて、先週のある日、会長と下の息子と三人で会う機会がありました。
当然、会長と私で仕事の話ばかりしていました。
その合間には会長が息子に対して、
『会社に入ったら数字に強くならないとダメだぞ』と言ってくれました。
三人での会話を終え、息子と帰宅途中に息子が、
「おじいちゃんから数字に強くなれと言われたけど、
どうもおじいちゃんとお父さんの会話を聞いていると
学校で教えてくれる数学とは違うような気がするけど
数字に強いとはどういうこと？」と聞かれました。
私の経験上や立場から『数字に強い』とはこういう意味だよと教えました。
息子は息子なりに、事例を出して「こういう事？」なんてことも聞いてきました。
まだまだ理解には至らないかもしれませんが、
興味を持ってくれたことは非常に親としては嬉しいことでした。
この調子じゃすぐに抜かれてしまうかな？
何て冗談を言いました。
先週はそんな週でした。

Blog No. 388th “Being Strong in Numbers”
Hello everyone, this is the 388th episode of my blog.
The other night, when I was sleeping, I suddenly woke up .
I dreamed that I was speaking English for the first time in my life.
I don’t really feel that my English has improved, especially at this point in my life, but
I thought I was finally able to see it.
The conversation was not very positive.
I guess it is the same with everything,
I think it is important to be steady and not expect sudden changes.
Last week, I had a chance to meet with the chairman and my younger son.
Naturally, the chairman and I talked a lot about work.
In between, the chairman told my son,
”When you join a company, you have to be strong in numbers.”
After the conversation between the three of us, I was on my way home with my son.
My son said to me, “Grandpa told me to be strong in numbers,
Apparently, listening to the conversation between Grandpa and my father,
I have a feeling that this is different from the math they teach us in school.
What do you mean by being good with numbers?” he asked.
I told him that, from my experience and position, this is what it means to be strong in numbers.
My son, in his own way, gave me an example and asked me, “Is this what you mean?” He also asked me what I meant.
He may not understand it yet, but I am glad that he was interested in it.
I was very happy as a parent.
At this rate, I wonder if he’ll outgrow it soon.
We had a joking conversation.
This week was a week of these thoughts.
