Blog Post No. 470: “Business Trip”
Hello, everyone. This is Blog Post No. 470.
Last week, we held a long-service award ceremony.
This time, nearly 70 employees were honored, including one who
had been with the company for 40 years.
We had a great time reminiscing about the old days, and
talking with various employees gave me
a better understanding of what goes on in the field.
I think gatherings like this, where we can reconnect with people we haven’t see in a while ,
are truly wonderful opportunities.
Now, last week I went on a business trip to Vietnam.
Originally, I had planned to go to recruit interns from Vietnam.
However, one of my business partner kindly invited me to stop by while I was in Vietnam, so I moved my trip up by two days and went to Vietnam.
I toured various logistics warehouses and also had the opportunity to connect with companies that primarily operate out of Singapore.
With some of them, I built such a good relationship that they even asked, “When will you be coming to Singapore or Vietnam again?”
After that, I headed to the business partner’s company.
I had been invited to a dinner the night before.
The next day, we caught up on what we had been doing recently and discussed the future of logistics in our respective countries.
Afterward, they invited me to visit another office, but since I had other plans, I unfortunately had to decline and said I’d visit next time.
Starting the next day, I visited universities for our annual internship recruitment drive.
This year, five outstanding students from one of the universiti will be joining us for a year – Long internship.
I visited five universities, and received more questions and had more photos taken than in previous years.
It seems that our program is finally gaining traction. However , our ultimate goal is for these interns to join us as new employees and eventually become executives.
Some students even asked, “How can I become an employee at Minami Nippon?”
I want to do my best to make that happen.
Finally, last week I reached my 200th consecutive online English lesson.
My business partner told me, “You’ve really improved your English,”
which made me very happy.
However, when I spoke with a professor in English, I felt frustrated
because I couldn’t clearly explain my future plans in Vietnam.
I still have a long way to go. I’ll do my best to reach 1,000 lessons as soon as possible.
By then, I might be able to see things from a whole new perspective.
That was my week.
See you next week.
Sincerely yours
